About The Author

Dj Hackney

Dj writes epic fantasy where magic meets industry and the line between destruction and renewal is drawn in fire. When not crafting stories of spiritual parasites, necromantic conspiracies, and mercenaries turned heroes, he can be found drinking a select bottle of wine with his spouse, writing software for his employer, playing a fantasy RPG, or cheering at a middle-school athletic event. Dj lives in Grapevine, Texas with his beautiful wife and twin boys, while helping his daughter prepare for an upcoming wedding. Finally, there is still more work to be done, preparing for the next book in the Fire Renewed series.

Characters

Rik Musik

A man who woke from a decade-long disappearance with no memory of where he'd been, only a voice in his head that compels his future. Chosen by the fire lord Jakosuth, whether he remembers agreeing to it or not. Otherworldly powers have marked him as something other than human — and something more than he was.

Sitz Fleischman

An acolyte of Frayft, the hearth god of home and teamwork to a sapient non-human species. Quiet, observant, and surprisingly fierce when those he loves are threatened. He carries a copper holy symbol and a scarletite dagger — one for prayer, one for the monsters. Sitz is Frayft's Hearthkeeper in practice.

Draenock Strongbrew

A dwarf priest of the human deity, Jhudiel. But the dwarf was denied being officially ordained because of prejudice. Patchy-bearded, golden-glowing, and carrying the weight of a father who rejected him and a mother who died too soon. He rides a terrac goat named Ironhead, who is almost as stubborn as he is.

Arlen Stonebow

A fifteen-year-old archer hunting the bandit leader who killed his mother. Quiet, focused, and carrying more rage than is good for him. His father is a gate guard in Bridwath. His mother's killer is a sub-orc named Kesha. He intends to be the one who ends her.

Nora Schneider

A grae elf sorceress of fire, adopted as a child by a human merchant. Her spellbooks were stolen. Her magic is coming back slowly. She is learning to trust again — and falling, reluctantly, for a man who may be more fire than flesh.

Marko Veller

The prophet is dead. His grandson carries the journal. Marko Veller does not see the future — he interprets the past, hoping to recognize the present before it's too late. Scholar, counselor, and steady hand. He is the closest thing the group has to a compass.
